UNLV vaccine site now taking walk-ins after 100K doses administered

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The COVID-19 vaccine site at UNLV is now taking people on a walk-in basis for their first dose after administering its 100,000th dose, a spokesman said Thursday.

UNLV's site at the student union administers the Moderna vaccine, which is available to anyone age 18 and up. Second doses are made by appointment only to ensure proper timing between doses.

"I encourage everyone who’s eligible to get vaccinated as soon as possible," UNLV Medicine CEO Dr. Michael Gardner said in a press release. "We're making the process seamless and we’ll be happy to take care of you."

Anyone hoping to be vaccinated should arrive with a government-issued photo ID and insurance card, if available. Insurance is not required to receive a vaccination.

The student union building is located at 4505 S. Maryland Parkway. Free parking is provided in Lot D.

Walk-in vaccinations are available from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can still schedule an appointment online as well.

More than 1.2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far in Clark County, according to figures from the Southern Nevada Health District.

Only the Pfizer vaccine is authorized for people ages 16 and 17. Click here to find sites in Southern Nevada that administer the Pfizer vaccine.
